The Process
Our Process
Every FES project follows a documented, step-by-step process built on documented industry standards. You’ll always know where we are and what comes next.

From first call to final clearance — six steps, no surprises.
Initial Contact & Scheduling
You call or email us describing your concern. We ask a few targeted questions to understand scope and urgency. For active water damage or significant mold growth, we prioritize rapid response. We schedule your free assessment within 24-48 hours in most cases.
Free On-Site Assessment
Tyler conducts a thorough visual inspection of your property. We use moisture meters, thermal imaging where needed, and take note of building conditions, drainage, and ventilation factors. If air or surface sampling is indicated, we discuss options, costs, and what the results will tell you. You receive a written scope of work and estimate.
Containment & Work Area Preparation
Before any remediation work begins, we establish negative-pressure containment using 6-mil polyethylene sheeting and HEPA-filtered exhaust fans. This creates a physical barrier between the work zone and the rest of your home, preventing spore migration. Entry/exit protocols are established and followed by all personnel.
Remediation & Treatment
Affected porous materials are removed and bagged for disposal. Structural elements that can be saved are HEPA-vacuumed and treated with EPA-registered antimicrobial fungicidal agents. All work is performed in accordance with mold remediation standards. Photos are taken throughout for documentation.
Moisture Source Correction & Documentation
Remediation without addressing the moisture source will fail. We document the moisture intrusion point and provide recommendations for permanent correction — whether that’s a plumbing repair, drainage improvement, or vapor barrier installation. We coordinate with your contractor or can connect you with trusted partners.
Post-Remediation Verification (PRV)
After remediation is complete, we recommend independent clearance testing — air or surface sampling to confirm fungal levels have returned to normal background. This step protects you, supports real estate transactions, and provides documentation for insurance. Clearance is conducted by a qualified industrial hygienist or independent sampler.
After Remediation: What to Expect
🏗️ Reconstruction
FES handles remediation only — we don’t do drywall, painting, or finish carpentry. We’ll give you clear documentation on what was removed so your general contractor knows exactly what needs to be rebuilt.
💧 Moisture Prevention
Maine’s climate means ongoing moisture management is essential. We provide written recommendations for drainage, ventilation, and vapor barriers to prevent recurrence.
📋 Documentation Package
You’ll receive a complete project file: pre-work photos, scope of work, work log, treatment records, disposal manifests, and post-remediation clearance results.
🔍 Follow-Up Inspection
We offer a complimentary follow-up inspection 30-60 days after project completion to confirm conditions remain stable and the moisture source has been properly addressed.
